Life Advice That I Learned From Fruit

So I've been making my own medicine for years now, and it's literally modern day alchemy. My favorite remedy to make is cheong and when fruit is placed in sugar or honey to make cheong, something magical happens:

✨ The sweetener doesn’t force or rush the process. It simply creates the right environment for the fruit to release its essence — its waters, nutrients, and healing compounds.

This is very much like shadow work and inner healing:

The sweetener = compassion & self-love. Just as sugar or honey gently draws out the fruit’s essence, self-love allows us to draw out our own truths without judgment.

🍎The fruit = the self. We carry deep wisdom, lessons, and power within us. But it often lies hidden beneath layers of protection.

🍯 The syrup = integration. As the fruit merges with the sweetener, its essence becomes preserved and transformed into something healing and nourishing — just as our inner work preserves our lessons and transforms them into wisdom.

So in a way, cheong is a metaphor for alchemy of the soul: sweetness (love, patience, trust) draws out what is hidden, and in time, that essence becomes medicine for both body and spirit.
